Knitting for Children

Remember the instant gratification sweaters from last week? (Oh yeah, baby, love those enormous needles.) Here are the children modelling them:

They're happy. Although it's not entirely clear what's making them happier: the new sweaters or the fact that they're jumping on the bed singing the new sweater song.

Children being children, the zippy arrival of two new sweaters has only whet their appetite for more knitted goods from Mommy. Tonight at supper, Helena announced that she needed a new hat with a bobble on top, new mittens, some socks, a shirt and some boots. And what was I knitting and was it for her?

Daniel has gone a step further and has started designing his own line of knitwear for me to produce. Oh the hopefully unmisplaced faith in my abilities! This is the hat he wants me to knit him. It's a doozer:

He has signed it Leinad, which is Daniel backwards. It's his spy name. This would be his spy hat. For lurking unseen, naturally.

Daniel may be onto something, you know -- Arnold Scaasi started life out as Arnold Isaacs. Honestly, I would save this sketch for Daniel's future retrospective at FIT.

Has Daniel been to the Spy Museum in DC? It's fun!

Sometimes hiding in plain site is the best way to be invisible. Can't wait to see you execute this.
